Reed Announces $55,000 in PHARE Funding for Indiana County
HARRISBURG – Rep. Dave Reed (R-Indiana) today announced the awarding of $55,000 to Indiana County which was made available through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement Program (PHARE) to help eligible county residents with home improvements.

Specifically, the state funding will be used to assist county residents over age 55 with the replacement of deteriorated or leaking roofs, and/or the replacement of inoperable, inefficient and unsafe heating systems.

“This funding will be used by older homeowners with limited financial means to make repairs they otherwise couldn’t afford,” Reed said. “I am pleased the Indiana County proposal made it through the very competitive approval process.”

The PHARE grant for Indiana County was approved by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, which administers the program.

PHARE is funded through the Marcellus Shale Impact Fee, which was established by Act 13 of 2012 as a fee assessed on the natural gas drilling industry. A portion of that money is used for housing needs through PHARE.
